"This prominent site will provide 45 new apartments in Swindon town centre as part of the first phase of our Kimmerfields master plan."
The proposal has been developed in conjunction with GreenSquare and the Homes and Communities Agency to provide an accessible environment for 'active elderly' people, allowing them to enjoy a high quality of life and maintain their independence. The building comprises forty five apartments with associated communal facilities arranged around a semi private courtyard space. The site is situated on a very prominent corner on approach to the town centre. The building form responds to the location by rising towards the generously day lit central lobby and circulation areas. The layered façade breaks the scale of the building down to a series of single and double height frames which articulate the individual apartments. The accommodation is designed to Lifetime Homes standards allowing for flexible adaptation. Common areas, including the feature staircase are designed to encourage exercise and interaction.
