"Always fascinated by the process of making, architecture is an occupation through which I can creatively make a difference to the built environment."
Growing up in Cheltenham, I was always encouraged by my parents to keep myself busy. This resulted in a diverse mix of weekend jobs (from fish counter to roofer), but it wasn't until studying architecture at university that I discovered my true calling.
I studied for my undergraduate degree in Nottingham and spent the subsequent year working for a Gloucestershire based firm involved in a number of high profile leisure, education and mixed-use schemes. Following the completion of my Masters at the University of Sheffield, I chose to take a step outside the typical career path of an architect and gained experience project managing on a residential construction site in London. This was invaluable and taught me how the transition between architectural drawings and built form is made.
To date my career in architecture has taken me around the world. From study trips to the Veneto, to building a school in Nepal, to working alongside the Architecture and Planning department of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. I have always enjoyed getting to know and understand how architecture can respond to different cultures and clients.
I was immediately drawn to work at RPP by the vision and drive of the practice. The design process is tenacious and I enjoy mediating between hand drawn sketches and cutting-edge BIM computer models. The practice is a great place to grow professionally and working on a team with such a rich variety of enthused and talented members is a pleasure!
