"Work in progress!"
I grew up in Dundee with a love for drawing and making; my high school art teacher used to tell me I drew like an architect. I’ve always been fascinated by how things are made, and still spend many hours taking things apart and trying to put them back together again.
Studying at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and Newcastle University gave me a wide educational experience. Field research into squatter settlements in Mumbai taught me how precious resources are and the amazing resourcefulness of people – everyone is an architect!
I joined RPP to work in a creative and analytical environment, where ideas are tested, concepts challenged and - importantly - things are made! The collaborative design process that we follow with Clients and Consultants is fun and engaging, and results in work of high quality.
I love the experience of working across different scales, from that of an intricate detail to the scale of the city and everything in between. It’s exciting to be part of the studio’s projects, offering a chance to be immersed in the design process and make a positive contribution to the built environment.
I’m also a little obsessed with the guitar and the bicycle… They are both beautifully simple and open up a world of possibilities. I’ve been playing the guitar for a long time - it’s a great subject to learn, as well as being fun to play with others. The satisfaction that you get from propelling yourself to new places on a bike is amazing!
