"I enjoy my working life, it is creative and fun."
I was born in Coventry in the late 60’s in a city bustling with energy, industry and construction. This environment, my parents' creativity and a set of coloured crayons led me to declare at an early age that I was interested in a career in architecture.
Studying at Plymouth and following an exchange scheme at the University of Krakow I gained my professional qualification in 1997. After working at the University of Reading and brief tenures at Foster and Partners I joined the London studio of EWA to work on the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts in 1997.
I was the Project Architect on the Baltic, a £47m Arts Centre on the banks of the river Tyne for 5 years, both at an early conceptual stage and then on site for 3 years. It is this expereince that has proven to have been formative in my development as an architect as well as nurturing a number of lasting friendships with artists and individuals from within the art world.
The Baltic opened in 2002 and over the last 10 years I have worked at Stanton Williams, Hamiltons and YRM. I joined RPA in September 2011 having known and worked with Robin and others within the studio previously. I'm currently working on a wide ranging portfolio of projects from residential and retail to proposals for the energy industry and the arts. I've always been curious about the world and am a keen traveller, having explored the wilds of beautiful landscapes as diverse as Alaska, Bolivia and Nepal. I've taught extensively in both the UK and abroad.
