At 2pm sharp last Thursday, the RPP team were swiftly ushered out of the office and, before they knew it, were heading full steam ahead to Stansted Airport. They were yet to discover the 2016 Summer Party's destination, which was finally revealed once they stepped off the train; Budapest!
After some food and a couple of beers, the team awoke on Friday morning greeted by a row of neatly parked Trabant cars eagerly awaiting passengers. After being driven to a remote pier on the Danube, team RPP were given a brief introduction to the car's controls, where they quickly learned not to rely on power steering!
Induction passed and having been given free reign of the Trabants, the team toured the city in a stylish convoy expertly escorted by the tour guides. The group's gallivanting led them through Pest, then Buda, where they pushed (some literally) the little cars up Gellért hill to the Citadel where they admired beautiful views of Budapest.
The team then drove straight out to the Etyek wine region to enjoy a mouth-watering tasting menu of 6 different wines; needless to say the food was tasty too! In between courses, a little time was taken to reflect on the year's achievements and for the annual awards ceremony. Then, the team were driven back by the tour guides and were able to fully enjoy the rolling scenery.
With a couple of sunny hours to spare, the group divided, some choosing to relax in one of Budapest's notorious spas whilst others visited Buda Castle.
To end the adventure packed day, RPP re-joined for dinner at restaurant Cyrano, which was not only selected for its delicious Hungarian dishes, but also for its connection to Squirrel Antonia.
Time flew and much happened in two short few days in this beautiful city. Only too soon, RPP headed home, full of memories and laughter and looking forward to the next RPP adventure.
