We are delighted to announce that Robin has today received an admission from the Court of Alderman to join the Freedom of the City of London in The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects.
In a ceremony at the Guildhall, Robin was escorted to Court by the Beadle and on arrival read aloud the Declaration of a Freeman and signed the register.
During the ceremony, Robin was presented with his Copy of the Freedom, together with a copy of the 'Rules for the Conduct of Lift' which date from the mid-18th century. The Clerk of Court extended the right hand of fellowship, and greeted Robin as 'a Citizen of London'.
After the ceremony Robin and his guest Charlotte, then enjoyed viewing the many sheep related memorabilia populating the Court Room...along with more historical artefacts such as a letter from Nelson and Florence Nightingale's Freedom casket.
We look forward to the Woolmen's great annual sheep drive across London bridge on Sunday 25th September, where we hope Robin will be there to exercise his new found rights as a Freemen of the city!
This tradition, dating back to 1237 is one of the oldest ceremonies still in existence, for more information click here
