RPP are excited to announce that our project for Elleric at 116 Tower Bridge Road has been granted planning permission.
The four-storey scheme, occupying a key corner site in the heart of Bermondsey, comprises of a retail offer at ground floor and 8 self-contained residential units over the three floors above.
The site has some very interesting historic context; set within the Bermondsey Street Conservation Area and 2 doors along is considered to have formed part of the original gatehouse to the Abbey that was located on the site of Bermondsey Square.
The proposal seeks to build upon the rich mix of old and new buildings located in the area, recalling the scale and proportion of warehouse façades and plot dimensions and by adopting similar robust palette of materials in the construction, such as, brick, concrete and metal.
The aim is to create an elegant building, modern yet appropriate to it’s context and with a real sense of longevity that will stand the test of time.
