The completion of the steel frame for 1 New Street Square was celebrated today with a topping out ceremony.
The project started in March 2013 with the demolition of the International Press Centre building, the construction phase followed in January 2014.
Pre-let by Land Securities to Deloitte in March 2015 and scheduled to complete in Summer 2016 the building will deliver 276,000ft² of BREEAM 'Excellent' rated office and retail accommodation, revitalising a rapidly changing area of London.
The building's distinctive Pas de Deux form with a lower portion addressing the adjacent building on Shoe Lane, complimented by a taller partner rising to a pinnacle looking towards St. Paul's, successfully responds to the local context and London's skyline.
The external 'butterfly shaped' fins shading full height glazing seen on the progressing facade installation will provide excellent internal daylighting and generous views to the outside.
