We are very pleased to announce that Camden Borough Council has granted detailed planning consent for the conversion of this attractive heritage building on Grape Street to a mixed-use residential and commercial scheme. 9-13 Grape Street is located in the Bloomsbury Conservation Area and, although unlisted, is a building of significant architectural character which has demanded a sensitive approach to its redevelopment.
The approved scheme will provide six residential apartments and four individual commercial units. The existing roof will be subtly raised to provide additional headroom for two duplex apartments on the top floors of the building. At street level, the existing windows and doors will be replaced with a thoughtfully detailed and crafted bronze shopfront. A refined material palette of original slate roof tiles, low iron glass, patinated bronze and dark grey aluminium responds to the tones and hues of the existing streetscape whilst providing a well detailed, contemporary architectural solution which compliments the local vernacular of Grape Street in materiality and in form.
